 | All
domestic properties now require a
Domestic Energy Assessment, rental and commercial properties are
set to follow in 2008.
|
 | Home Information Packs
will help to reduce the amount of money wasted by property owners when
buying and selling their homes. These packs
will also
include an EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) which will identify
energy wastage within a property and therefore help to
reduce
fuel bills
and cut carbon emissions.
|
 | Penalties will be incurred should anyone put
their property on the market without a Home Information Pack and Energy
Performance Certificate.
Currently sellers could receive a fine of up to £200 a day if they
have not commissioned a pack before marketing their property. The
Office of Fair Trading has already warned Estate Agents that if they do
not follow the Home Information Pack rules they could risk an
investigation and possibly even loose their business – the penalties are
harsh!

Comments that HIPs will increase Council Tax are unfounded!
|
 |
Comments made stating that Energy Assessors could give different
results on identical properties are also unfounded! The Energy Performance
Certificates are a detailed assessment of the efficiency of the property.
The criteria is set out and approved by environmental groups. All
Energy Assessors are fully trained and accredited and any consumer who is
not happy with the assessment of the property will be able to question the
findings. |
